To ensure a transparent and fair shopping experience for all our valued customers, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our returns and refunds policy.

Our General Policy: All Sales are Final

Due to the secondhand nature of our products, all sales are considered final. We do not offer refunds for items that are the wrong size, do not fit as expected, or if you have a change of heart.

We are committed to providing detailed descriptions and accurate photographs of each garment, including any notable flaws or signs of wear. We strongly encourage you to carefully review all product information and images before making a purchase.

Why No Refunds?

As a secondhand store, our inventory is unique and sourced from various individuals. This makes traditional returns and restocking a complex process. Our pricing reflects the secondhand condition of our items. By maintaining a final sale policy, we can continue to offer a wide range of quality pre-loved fashion at the lowest possible prices.

Exchanges

While we do not offer refunds, we may consider exchanges on a case-by-case basis. An exchange will only be considered if the item you received is significantly different from the product description and images provided at the time of purchase.

To be eligible for an exchange discussion, you must contact us within 48 hours of receiving your item. Please email our customer service team at [email protected] with your order number, a detailed description of the discrepancy, and supporting photographs.

If an exchange is approved, the item must be returned to us in the same condition it was received, with all original tags (if any) still attached. You will be responsible for the cost of return shipping. Once we have received and inspected the item, we will issue you a store credit equivalent to the purchase price of the item, which you can use to select another piece from our collection.

Your Rights Under the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA)

Dress For Less is committed to upholding your rights as a consumer under the South African Consumer Protection Act.

Understanding Secondhand Goods: Please be aware that as our products are secondhand, they are sold “as is” or “voetstoots.” We take great care to inspect each item and will always disclose any significant defects, such as stains, tears, or missing buttons, in the product description.

Your Right to Return Defective Goods: In accordance with the CPA, you have the right to return goods that are found to be defective within six months of purchase, unless:

  • The specific defect was explicitly pointed out to you in the product description before your purchase, and you knowingly agreed to buy the item in that condition.
  • The defect is a result of normal wear and tear, and is reasonable to expect from a secondhand item.
  • You have altered the item in any way.

If you believe an item you have purchased has a defect that was not disclosed at the time of purchase, please contact us immediately at [email protected] with your order number and clear photos of the defect. We will assess the situation in line with the provisions of the CPA.
